Privacy Policy
Last updated: 19 June 2026
Plain-language summary: We collect the account details you give us and basic technical data to run the Service. Your live video and audio stream peer-to-peer between participants — we don't record or store them. You can download or delete your data anytime from your profile settings.
This Privacy Policy explains how Wavelengths ("we", "us"), operated by [Company], collects, uses, and protects your information. By using Wavelengths you agree to this policy.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — your email address, username, display name, optional bio, and optional profile photo.
- Usage information — rooms you visit, who you follow, and notifications, used to power features like Recent Rooms and Friends.
- Feedback — any messages you send us through the in-app feedback form, along with the page you sent it from.
- Technical information — basic log and device data such as your browser type (user agent), used to operate and secure the Service.
2. Your live video and audio
Wavelengths is peer-to-peer: your camera, microphone, and screen-share streams are sent directly between participants over WebRTC. We do not record, store, or have access to the contents of your live streams. Chat messages are relayed live and kept only in memory for the duration of a stream; they are not stored after the room ends.
3. How we use information
We use the information we collect to provide and maintain the Service, authenticate you, power social and room features, respond to feedback and support requests, keep the Service safe (including moderation and abuse prevention), and comply with legal obligations.
4. How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with:
- Service providers — for example Supabase, which provides our authentication and database hosting as a data processor on our behalf.
- Other users — your public profile (username, display name, bio, photo) and anything you choose to share in a room is visible to other participants.
- Legal reasons — where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.
5. Cookies and local storage
We use browser local storage to keep you signed in and to cache profile data for performance. We do not use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.
6. Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, photo, follows, room history, and related data, and delete your authentication record. Some information may persist briefly in backups or where retention is required by law.
7. Your rights and choices
You can download a copy of your data or permanently delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, or restrict the processing of your personal information; contact us to exercise them.
8. Children
Wavelengths is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including transport encryption. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll take reasonable steps to notify you, and we'll update the "Last updated" date above.
